Atlantic Title Company of South Portland has established itself as an industry leader by being
the first title company in Maine to have real estate closing documents recorded electronically.
The company filed the first "eRecorded" documents in the Kennebec County Registry
of Deeds on September 2, 2007. The document packages including scanned deeds, deeds of
trust and other related documents were transmitted into Kennebec County's eRecording system.
Based in South Portland, Atlantic Title Company has proudly served the Maine real estate market
for more than 25 years.
"Filing in Kennebec County has allowed us to work more efficiently by using the latest
available technology," said Janice A. Guimont, President. "We do business all over
the state, so eRecording will be more advantageous to us as more counties come on board across
the state."
Atlantic Title marketing and closing manager Connie Minervino had done a good deal of research
on the advantages of eRecording. "We were looking for ways to 'think outside the box,'
and were very pleased to be able to have the ability to access this cutting edge software," said
Minervino. eRecording means there is no delay in getting documents to the recording office
and receiving recording information. In addition, it saves customers money on over-night charges.
Atlantic Title Company is now tested and poised to "hit the ground running" as other
Registries in the State begin to implement this beneficial alternative to the traditional paper-driven
recording process. Minervino states, "We are very much looking forward to working with
those in the industry who are ready and willing to move this innovative process forward."
